About Terre Rare
Based in Calascibetta, Sicily, Terre Rare (Rare Lands) is the brainchild of Calascibettan herbalist Giorgio Sciocolone, Female Entrepreneur Laura Alongi, and Siculo-American Matteo Platania.
This team is committed to enabling travelers to experience the beauty, tranquility and culture of the -- still largely unknown -- interior that they call home. The emphasis is on life-enhancing experiences rather than history lessons -- the stories and myths of the ancient places that surround them are just part of the fabric of everyday life.

About Your Guide
Welcome! You may be wondering why you stumbled upon our site .... perhaps because you want to learn more about the heart of Sicily, the Sicilian interior, and the rare beauties that surround it.
I'm Giorgio Scicolone, I live in Calascibetta, in the heart of Sicily.
I studied herbal sciences and nutraceutical products at the University of Catania, and I am also a hiking guide, a job, a passion that allows me to introduce my territory (very little known) which is rich in vegetation, history and places fantastic.
The things that pushes me the most to carry on this project are the people and friends around me, and that you too will get to know! But above all to think that
Lino Alongi, my uncle, whom I unfortunately never met, had already started this project many years ago, trying to enhance his town, and the surrounding area.
I was born in Gela, a seaside town, in the southwest of Sicily, and I have been living in Calascibetta with my whole family for almost ten years now. And you will wonder why, from a country as big as Gela, a young twenty-four year old feels comfortable in Calascibetta. I have indeed found the answer over the years,
discovering that in reality the place where I live gives me peace, people are kind and helpful, I have found wonderful friends who are my second family for me, although now some are far away. .
Moreover, it is since I was 17 (when I still did not have a driving license) that I take walks to discover places, alleys,
landscapes to live (I don't really like photographing all the places, I prefer to live and make the moment live), and that's how it is. that I fell in love with the Sicilian
hinterland, discovering its history from the inside, living in it, walking in it, breathing in it.
Who am I then? On your journey with me, I will be your Sicilian friend, Giorgio! We will laugh, walk, sweat, drink a nice cold beer in the evening
